Jeremy Phifer

Jeremy's entry into the music world began at the age of eight when he received his first “Jr. Kit” drumset. He banged around on the drums for about 3 years and eventually tinkered around some with the guitar. It was only natural for Jeremy to begin leaning more toward the guitar. After all, his dad Jerry Phifer is an exceptional lead guitarist well known all around north Texas and southern Oklahoma for his skills. When he was eleven or twelve years old there was another musical influence entering Jeremy's life. That was Mr. Watson his band director. Mr. Watson changed Jeremy's entire perspective concerning a career in music. With Mr. Watson's coaching and advice, Jeremy went on to start his first band with his friend Matt Morton. The band was called “Ground Zero” and they played mainly at the Galaxy Club in Dallas. After that band broke up, Jeremy and his cousin Cody formed the band “Livin' By Numbers”. They played mostly “punk rock” around Paris and Dallas. They also played several music festivals. Jeremy continued to hone his guitar skills and to work on his vocals. Mr. Watson was still in the picture encouraging Jeremy to chase his dreams and to expand the types of music he pursued. His advice was to explore different venues of music, not being just one dimensional. Eventually Jeremy tended to lean toward the versatile “Texas or Red Dirt” sound. When hearing his current group, the “Texas BadWater Band”, you definitely get that “Texas” sound, but there are undertones ranging all the way from punk rock to classic country. Jeremy Phifer and the Texas BadWater Band are beginning to carve a niche for themselves in the music world having won two of two competitions they've entered. The first was the Paris Idol contest in 2009 and then the Southeast Oklahoma competition of the 2010 Colgate Country Showdown, the local round and the Northeast State Competition. Jeremy writes a lot of his own music because he wants to have his own “sound”. He's a hard worker and is ready to take his shot at success in the music world. He also has had the opportunity to open for stars such as Blake Shelton, Jason Meadows, and the group No Justice. And now winning the KHYI 95.3 the range "shiner rising star" round 1 week 3. getting ready for round 2 as we speak.
