No stage is too big or too small for Amber Hayes. From entertaining residents of her family-owned nursing homes as a child in rural Weleetka, Oklahoma, to competing in national competitions, and performing at fairs and festivals across the south, Amber has used her captivating, country vocals and commanding stage presence to connect with audiences of all ages.
Amber has been singing and performing since she was a little girl. At five, she began studying dance and voice. And at the ripe, old age of eight, Amber was hosting her own 30 minute Country music show, “Amber and Friends” at state fairs, private parties and corporate events. For seven years, she was a member of "Oklahoma Kids," a well-respected, traveling music organization that has helped develop talent such as Blake Shelton. Going on the road to perform across the region gave her invaluable stage experience - she was able to hone her skills as a solo artist as well as an actress in large musical productions.
In 1997, Amber's vocal talent was heard during an Oklahoma performance which was attended by Grand Ole Opry member Jean Sheppard. After the show, Sheppard promptly invited Amber to sing, as her guest, on "Ernest Tubb's Midnight Jamboree," a Nashville-based live radio program. Little did Amber know then that this would be the first of several guest appearances she’d make with some of the Grand Ladies of the Grand Ole’ Opry. Jeannie Seely and Helen Cornelius have also invited Amber to be their special guest on the famous show. “I consider getting to hang out and learn from some of the most influential women of Country music a privilege. I try to soak in everything I can from them”, says Amber.
Since moving to Nashville a few years ago, Amber has wisely used her time. She was the lead in the musical “Spitfire Grill”, had a major role in the musical comedy “Could It Be Love” starring Seely and Cornelius which was performed at the Ryman Auditorium. She also was in the 2006 “Vagina Monologues” starring Seely and Mandy Barnett. Most recently, Amber has had many opportunities to share the stage with some of the hottest new stars like Rodney Atkins, and the more established artists, such as, Marty Stuart and T.G. Sheppard.
Whether it be the historic Ryman Auditorium or the local dinner theater, Amber is at home on a stage of any size and with an audience of all ages. She just loves to perform – after all, it's all she's known!
“The first time I saw Amber onstage she was playing the lead role, her first, in “Spitfire Grill”. Her superb vocal abilities were obvious, but I was totally struck by her charm, exuberance and ability to connect directly with the audience.” – Jeannie Seely
